Richard “Rich” Henderson, age 55, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on September 29, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri to Wayne and Gennevive (Van Sant) Henderson..
He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Henderson; son, Travis Henderson; sister, Sue (Dean) Gerstenberger; stepdaughters, Tina Sease and Leah (John) Mortale; niece, Ashley Gerstenberger; nephew, Jameson Gerstenberger; dear friends, Sue and Dave Torres; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Rich’s Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 NE Rising Sun Dr., Pleasant Hill.

Our prayers are with Richards family and especially his daughter Sammie. Such a sweet man for the world to have lost, yet we are grateful for you that you are no longer in pain. Thank you Richard for making such a wonderful daughter that we love so much. Sammie we know you are so strong and times like this test you but we will always have faith in you. Rest in peace big guy.

My prayers are with Richard's family and friends. I will miss him forever. I am glad we had the opportunity to reconnect. I have known him since the 1980's. He stayed positive even through his health issues. I will always love you Rich. May God bless you.

Rich came into our lives when his dear mother Ginny took care of our son Colin when he was about 3 years old. Rich spent many hours playing at our house and his with Colin. He was a good boy and they had a lot of fun together. We did not see him as an adult after his parents died but Colin said he read many loving messages about Rich on face book.I am sad to hear he had to deal with a lot of pain. God bless him and all those that loved and were loved by him.
