Randy L. Godwin, 64, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Hospital. Randy was born on June 24, 1953 to Paul Godwin and Dixie Helmers in Des Moines, Iowa.
Randy retired from Firestone and drove school bus part-time for DSM Public Schools. He enjoyed selling goods at flea markets, wheelin’ and dealin’ and as he would say, “livin’ the dream.” Randy loved spending time with his family, he adored his grandkids and rooting on the Iowa Hawkeyes. He had a great group of friends that he enjoyed making money and cracking joke with.
Randy is survived by his wife, Elaine Godwin; son, Jesse Godwin; daughters, Mindy (Mark) Davis and Sara Godwin; brother, Rick Godwin; and grandkids, Halle, Keslyn, Kyleigh, and Easton.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Dixie (Bud) Helmers; father, Paul Godwin; and his little dog, Lucy.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 12 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Randy.

Oh elaine words cannot express how sorry the prince's and hammer's are for your loss. Please know my heart is with you. Unfortunately i won't be able to attend the service. R.I.P randy..

Let me express my sorrow for your great loss. He was a very good man and I know he will greatly missed. Elaine my prayers are with you in the loss of your life partner. May you find peace someday. To his children and grandchildren be there for each other. Remember to smile and laugh so he can see it from heaven. Keep each other close and remember his laughter and love.
