Richard John Beltrame was born September 20, 1925. He passed away peacefully from this life on July 18, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends.
Richard proudly served in the United States Navy on USS LCS-18 in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired from the City of Des Moines in September 1980. He loved music, dancing, walking, going for rides and spending time with family.
Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia, Alice, Art and Ed Beltrame, Rose Quijano, Mary Quijano and Olga Carrara; daughter-in-law, Mary T. Beltrame; and special friend, Anne Braida.
He is survived by his son, Dave Beltrame; daughter, Kris (Mike) Beltrame; step-daughter, Kathy (Alan) Whitten; grandsons, Brian (Emily), Bobby (Melissa), Brett (Jacqueline) and Aaron (Anne) Beltrame; step-grandchildren, Rick (Jan) Chumbley, Randy (Amie) Chumbley and Jeni (Mick) Day; six great-granddaughters; seven step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 with military honors at 5 p.m., and a Vigil held at 6 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ the King Catholic Church or the Des Moines Veterans Administration CLC2 Hospice Unit in loving memory of Richard.

May all the wonderful memories sustain and comfort you today and the days ahead as you journey through the loss of your dear father. I am so glad I was able to share in the Holidays with your father being well enough to leave the nursing home to do so.
