Sylvia Adamson

Sylvia Adamson, 92, passed away January 21, 2008 at Mercy Hospice of Johnston. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. January 25 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 – 11am service time Friday at the funeral home.
Sylvia was born February 22, 1915 in Carbondale, Illinois to James R. and Florence Mays. She had a great love for all animals and loved to grow plants and flowers. Sylvia is survived by her children: Daughter Marie (Jim) Farmer, and son Claude Adamson; five grandchildren: Caryn Farmer, Cathy (Rick) Stratton, Chae Adamson, and Heath (Ali) Adamson all of Des Moines area and Jim Farmer of Crestwood, KY; and ten great grandchildren. Sylvia’s husband Pfc. Claud Adamson preceded her in death (WWII) as have all of her siblings: brothers Winstred C. Mays and Antoine L. Mays; infant half sister Elnora G. Berry; and half brother Leonard C. Romanup.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the compassionate care givers Sylvia had at Bishop Drumm Care Center, Comfort Keepers, and Mercy Hospice of Johnston. Your kindnesses will always be remembered. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or place of donor’s choice.
