Ernest Wyld

Ernest “Ernie” P. Wyld, 82 of Des Moines, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ernie was born May 17, 1924 to Edwin and Luella Wyld in Des Moines. He was a veteran of WWII, and worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. Ernie married Peggy on November 2, 1946, and they spent the past 60 years devoted to each other and their family. Ernie loved his family and the outdoors. He could often be found riding his bike around the neighborhood or walking to Hy-Vee to meet friends for coffee.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Peggy, his son, Phillp Wyld of Zumbrota, MN, and his daughters, Eileen Cipale and Lorrie Wyld, both of Des Moines; beloved grandchildren, Gary Cipale, Jr., Phil (Jodi) Cipale, Mark (Kristie) Nordin, Jr., Heather (Jennifer) Nordin, Jessica (Steve) Richter, Eddy Wyld; and great-grandchildren; siblings, Edwin (Anna) Wyld, and Lily (Guy) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Anne Cober.
Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Heath Hospice Taylor House.
Ernie was the loving husband of Peggy and father to Eileen, Phillip and Lorrie. Ernie will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered.
