Eva Atkinson

Eva C. Atkinson, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Mercy Hospital. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Glendale Cemetery, 49th and University Avenue, Des Moines. The family and friends will meet at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa at 11:00 AM and continue from there to the cemetery.
Eva was born August 9, 1918. She was the daughter of Charles and Verna Hickok. Eva lived in Chariton, Iowa and worked in the offices for the Chariton Wholesale (Hy-Vee) for thirty three years. In 1991 and after her retirement, Eva moved to Des Moines.
Through the years Eva was active in the Eagles Women's Auxilary. She also managed the Crises Center in Chariton.
Eva is survived by her daughter, Carol (Don) James of West Des Moines; her grandchildren, Julie (Jack) Brooks of Johnston and Scott (Sandy) James of Bettendorf, Iowa. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Tyler and Tessa and a brother, Harry (Rea) Hickok of Waterloo. Her grandson Rusty, and her parents preceded her in death.
