Raymond W. Reed

Raymond Reed, 86, passed away June 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was born March 24, 1931 in New Buda Township, Decatur County, Iowa to Esabee (Ingram) and Kenneth Reed, the oldest of 10 kids. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 in the Panama Canal. Raymond then served in the Army Reserves for many, many years. On September 4, 1954 he married Mildred Nicholl in Indianola, Iowa. He retired from the Federal Government GSA in Kansas City.
He loved his family. His travels always included family or going to see family or stopping by family or camping with family. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by a bunch of family, food, dancing and drinks along with lots of laughter.
Raymond is survived by his five children, Connie (Reed) and Dennis Allison of Des Moines, Ronald and Patti Reed of Grand River, Iowa, Cathy (Reed) Kinzie of Des Moines, Robert and Misty Reed of Huntingtown, Maryland and Richard and JeanAnn Reed of Des Moines; 13 grandkids; 11 great-grandkids; four step great-grandkids; and two great-great-grandkids.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8th at the funeral home, followed by burial at Linn Grove Cemetery.

Sad to hear the news, but happy your are now with our Lord and Savior Jesus and his father alrighty God and in the arms of your wonderful wife, I will always remember the Mercy Capital days when you stopped by with your good smiles and jokes. Rest in perfect peace now.
