George T. Ness

George Thomas Ness, 67, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

George was born October 12, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Joe and Marian (Heller) Ness. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. He married Donna Lee Burton in June of 1973. He worked for the City of Des Moines for over 15 years. George was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind and caring person and he enjoyed playing Santa Claus for years for family, friends and strangers alike. George liked collecting things, tinkering in the garage, and riding motorcycles in his younger years.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, sons, Elliot (Allison) Ness and Aaron Ness, granddaughters, Kate and Abby, brother, Howard (Brenda) Ness, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Aaron Ness.

Per George’s request, there will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association in his loving memory.
