James Daniel Rouse, 65, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
James was born July 16, 1951, in Lucas, Iowa, to Howard and Herm (Hockins) Rouse. He served in the United States Marine Corps and worked as a welder, mechanic, and a social worker. He was a selfless person and devoted himself to helping recovering addicts. James was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked riding his motorcycle, playing softball, and participating in father-daughter Tae-kwon-do with his daughter, Jamie.
James is survived by his daughter, Jamie Rouse, older brother, Roy Rouse, step-daughter, Michelle Barnes, and close family friends, Vincent and Nita Meek and their daughter Heather. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Katherine Lass, and his close friends, Glen Meek and Bill Schaffer.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.

I am so sorry to hear of James's passing. I only knew him as a client here at work but I enjoyed every time he came in to the office. He was a very enjoyable person to be around and will be missed. Our thoughts are with the family. From the Insurance Specialists Inc.

i have already offered a condolence to the family.
I am Kathie Lass's oldest son. There needs to be a correction on this obituary.
Kathie was not Jame's wife. they were NEVER married. Please correct this error. I find it very offensive she is listed as his wife.
