Linda (Masters) Isley
June 17, 2017
Linda Lee (Masters) Isley, daughter of Willard G. (Ed) and Esther Masters passed away peacefully Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the age of 76.
Linda was born July 31, 1941, in Williamson, IA. She graduated from Tech High School. She married Lester Isley February 9, 1961, and together they raised 3 children.
Linda lived in Des Moines most of her life and spent 30 years working for the Des Moines School system. She helped construct our city school bus routes, trained drivers, and often drove herself. It was very common to be out with her and have a now grown adult, walk up to us and reintroduce themselves and tell mom and us about her being the best bus driver they ever had. Before Google, you just called Linda for directions because she knew every street in this city!
She is survived by her children, James (Laurie) Isley, Lesly Thompson, and Lori (Gordon) Miller; grandchildren, Allison, Tyler, Tara (Rafael), Brenna, Jake, and Tessa; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Gabriella, and Giavonna; siblings, Will (Becky) Masters, Ellen (Doug) Beckman, and Liz (Howard) LeNoble. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Isley; son-in-law, Thomas J. Thompson; and great-grandson, Raphael Luna III.
Linda respectfully requested a private burial with family. Cards and condolences may be sent to Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, IA 50313.
The family of Linda Isley wishes to thank you for all the love, kindness, and support you’ve expressed to us all.

It was a true blessing to work with Linda . You will not find a more kind ,honest, funny, and likable person . She had a wicked sense of humor and was always ready to squirt you with a garden hose. I will miss your smile . god speed and say "hey" to Les when you see him.

It is so difficult to express ones grief for the loss of your "extended family" member. We have known Linda {and Les}, for 30 years. Linda was my "right hand man" at the Dept. of Transportation for many years. There just is no way to say "thank you" enough Linda. I was so excited that you recognized us a few days ago when we visited you. You are in a far better place now, and as Christians we choose to Celebrate you Life in the name of Jesus Christ. RIP, Linda and smile down on us once in awhile. I'll be looking up to see your cheery face and hear your contagious laugh. Tell Less hello from us too!
