Robert (Bob) Hestness

Robert (Bob) Hestness, 76, passed away after a lengthy illness on June 16, 2017. He was born in Thompson, Iowa, on November 15, 1940, to Leonard and Ruth Hestness.

Bob worked as a computer programmer at Fiserv Solutions for more than 30 years, retiring in 2005.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He cherished the time spent with his wife, Connie, and their grandchildren. Bob was an avid fan of Star Wars and he enjoyed his role as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Connie; sons, Mark (Brenda) Hestness and Mike (Amy) Hestness; grandchildren, Cory (Amber), Colten, Jessi (Chase), Caitlyn, Tyler, Lexi, Kenny, and Addie; great-grandchildren, Nella and Layne; brother, Richard (Diane) Hestness; sisters, Marlene (Frank) Turk and Kay Hestness, as well as a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
