Lori,
My husband and I met you and Sam at the infusion center. I loved hearing your stories and sharing that day with you and Sam. Though the circumstances we were in were not ideal, you and Sam said things that day that will forever be etched in my mind. We knew that day that Sam was a good man. You are a strong woman and the sunshine will shine on your life again. I pray for it.
I'm so sorry Sam didn't make it through a bit longer, I know how precious each moment we have with them is. God bless you and comfort you. Keep telling your stories of life and remember all the good. Much love sweet lady.

Dear Lori, we are so very, very sorry to hear of Sam's passing. He was a man full of so much compassion for others, and family and friends meant so much to him. Rick's mom, Sam's Aunt Kathryn, used to babysit your two boys when they were little and for years she would talk about "Sam and Lori" always with a huge smile on her face and she loved to share stories of your boys. Sam acknowledged Kathryn on her birthday every single year. He never forgot about his Aunt Kathryn. Sam had a special place in Kathryn's heart as he did in many, many peoples' hearts. He was one in a million! Our thoughts and prayers are with you Lori and your whole family. Becky and Rick Kalianov, Waterloo, Iowa

Dear Lori,
So very sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I feel privileged to have had the chance to work with him and to get to know you too. Sam was a surprising gentle man of many talents and kept everyone on their toes. One of my favorite memories of Sam was during farmer's market one Saturday morning in downtown Des Moines. I was having brunch with my sons at Java Joe's and Sam came running in. He said he didn't have time to chat because he wanted to eat a cinnamon roll before you met him there. Apparently, he was supposed to be dieting at the time. He accomplished his goal, cleaned up the evidence and had two cups of coffee and a small treat for the two of you to share waiting for you when you walked through the door.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
