Virginia Deuben, 103, passed away at Iowa Methodist Hospital on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
Virginia was born on July 29, 1913 in Des Moines to John and Flo Wirt. She was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Virginia loved her church, books on tape, spending time with her family and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Warren) Hutchinson; grandchildren, Steven Jones, Paul (Mary) Jones and Ralph Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Misty (Jon) Sibley, Jessie (Josh) Hartley, Ashley Jones, Daniel Jones, Spencer Hutchinson and Tyler Sharkey; great-great grandchildren, Peyton Sibley, Brinley Hartley and Jaxton Sibley; and a host of extended family and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Deuben; and her sisters, Sister Jane, Janet and Betty.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 600 6th Avenue. Virginia will be laid to rest by the family at Glendale Cemetery.

The halls of North High are diminished with Virginia's passing. Prayers and thoughts to her family and friends. Virginia and I communicated during her last 14 years, since her North High memories were pleasant episodes in her life that she treasured recalling. I am the niece of Louise Koch. Louise and Virginia were long-time friends from St. John's.
