Merlyn F. "Chuck" Bach

Chuck Bach, 84, passed away June 2, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born April 13, 1933, in Charles City, IA to Frank and Alice Bach.

Chuck owned and operated Bach Sales Center in Des Moines for 50 years. He was an avid horseman and outdoorsman who loved caring for his farm, golfing, and hunting. Chuck also enjoyed bowling and watching Western movies.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janis; sister, Darlene Fini; children, Dan (Kim) Bach, Sandy (Jay) Waterman, Jeff (Barb) Bach, Curt Bach, Diane Bach, and Marcie Bach; stepchildren, Scott (Barbara) Dillon, Shelle (Bob) McCartney, Steve (Roseanna) Dillon, and Kelle (Brian) Harvey; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Dottie; and his brother, Thomas Bach.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 7th at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E. 1st Street in Ankeny, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Chuck’s family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Mercy Hospital for the very dignified and compassionate care he received.
