Richard Jacob Hobmeier

Richard Jacob Hobmeier, 63, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, June 1st in Des Moines, Iowa.

Graduating from Mallard Community School in 1972, Richard went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Post-service, he contributed to the development of many substantial bridges and buildings around the state of Iowa as a dedicated and innovative construction foreman. Throughout his life, he was a talented athlete in both sport and fitness. Recently retired, Richard enjoyed nature and spending time with his loved ones and pets.

Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother, Arnold and Augustine Hessenius, of Curlew, Iowa. He is survived by his spouse Martha Hobmeier; five siblings, Manfred Hobmeier, Ingrid Studer, Harry Hobmeier, Frank Hobmeier, and Ken Hessenius; seven children, John Crees, Cassandra Muse, and Jeremy, Jason, Mathew, Amanda, and Joshua Hobmeier; nine grandchildren, Gabrielle, Rachel, Antony, Ellasandra, and Sofia Muse, Taylor Hobmeier, Gianna and Joey Crees, Jason Hobmeier Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Paisley Rae Edenfield.

Memorial Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 8th, 2017 at First Assembly of God, 2725 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa, 50310. Flowers and donations can be sent to First Assembly of God.
