Larry L. Bell

Larry L. Bell, 74, passed away May 29, 2017 from complications of diabetes and heart disease. Visitation will be held Friday, June 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Private burial at a later date.
Larry was born June 14, 1942 in North English, IA to Harriet (Morse) and Dale Bell. He graduated from English Valley High School and then from Iowa State University with an Engineering Operations degree. He worked for Goodyear for 12 years and retired from John Deere after 25 years of service in procurement. In his free time, Larry enjoyed traveling, baking bread, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peg; children, Carrie Smith, Curtis (Nancy) and Jason (Debbie) Bell; grandchildren, Catherine (Peter) Renwick, Ian (Emily), Adeline and Jamison Smith, Nate, Jay, Teddy and Charlie Bell; nephews, Tony and Andy (Stephanie) Bell; and his golden retriever, Nola. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Rickie Bell.

I've been thinking about your family all week, sending you good thoughts and smiles from getting to know Larry these past couple years and hearing his stories. I'll never forget his voice and his smile, he was a great guy!

Our hearts go out to Peg and the family on their loss. We've been friends with the Bells for many years, and have a lot of great memories with them. We can say that Larry was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. He will definitely be missed, but never forgotten.
