Linda S. Lundquist
May 29, 2017
Linda S. Lundquist, 57, of West Des Moines, IA passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017, after being diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in October of 2013. She remained strong throughout and was her own biggest advocate. Her passion for life along with her friends and family motivated her to persevere.
Linda was born on September 25, 1959 in Ames, IA to Paul and Pearl Van Soelen. Linda married high school classmate, Brad Lundquist, on January 10, 1981. The couple settled in West Des Moines, IA, where they raised their two children.
Linda loved her career at Wells Fargo as a Business Analyst, wishing she would have been able to continue in that role for years to come. She also was very involved with her husband’s career at The Vernon Company and cherished the friendships she created from a wonderful family-owned organization. Linda was passionate about her flower gardens, her love for exploring, traveling, puzzles, decorating, and carving goose eggs. More than anything, though, she loved spending time with her two fantastic sons and three amazing grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her husband, Brad; her sons, Matt (Stacey) Lundquist and Bryan Lundquist; her grandchildren, Jack, Brynn and Kade Lundquist; her father, Paul Van Soelen; her sister, Marcia Van Soelen Hamby; her brothers, Dan (Kirsten) Van Soelen and Keith (Theresa) Van Soelen and their daughter, Adrienna.
She is preceded in death by her best friend and mother, Pearl Van Soelen.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa. Celebration of life service will be Friday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordon Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden or the Salisbury House Foundation. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Brad, I know this is so late in sending but I would rather send late than never. I learned many things from Linda in the time I knew her, and she will always be remembered. May you be well.

Brad, So sorry to hear of Linda's passing. I have lots of great memories from our sorority days. Loved in your little house off Ashworth when she'd decided to remove the bulk head in the kitchen while you were out of town and had it all back together before you got back. She never shied away from a challenge. Wish I had the right words for your family, but they are never quite enough when you lose someone so young.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. While working at Marsh, we'd do lunch in your kitchen and we'd talk about our boys and she'd show me her garden plans all graphed out. I will miss her giggly laugh, but I know that heaven's gardens will be well planned.

Brad, Frieda and I extend our condolences to you and your family. Linda fought the good fight and was an inspiration.
I was fortunate to speak with her a few minutes at the Palm Springs meeting and she was positive and encouraging me even with what she was going through.
May God keep you and your family wrapped in His loving arms during this time.

I am sad. The world has lost such a smart and strong woman. And she loved her family mightily. During the many hours we spent together in our "Vernon company spouse" roles I learned so much about this love. She cherished you all - I hope knowing this gives you comfort during this time.

Linda was as much a sister as a friend to me. It's hard to imagine her not being a part of the Vernon functions and trips. She was blessed to be loved by so many of us. I know we all take great comfort knowing we will see her again on the other side. Brad and your family, know we love you and are praying for you. ANYTHING you need, know we are there for you.
