Gary A. James

Gary James, 53, was born February 13, 1964, in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He went to the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2017.

Gary graduated from Tech High in 1982. Following high school, he enlisted in the Marines where he told a lot of stories of his days on the ship, places he visited such as New England, Italy, and North Carolina to name a few, and he even claimed to have swam away from crocodiles in North Carolina as they were out taking a dip. Gary loved music and enjoyed singing karaoke when he had the opportunity.

After the service, he worked at Ryko Manufacturing in Grimes as a machinist for several years until his health declined. He struggled with diabetes and sleep apnea, but always had good spirits and could put a smile on his face. Gary enjoyed reading the Bible and spending time with family and friends. He often sat in uncomfortable positions so his cat Fluffy could lay on him for hours without moving (so sweet).

Gary was good hearted, kind, generous, and loving. He touched a lot of lives and will be greatly missed.

Gary is survived by his father, Lloyd James; siblings, Ron James, Sandra James, and Cathy Mugan; brother-in-law, Denny Mugan; and nephew, Dennis John Mugan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia and sister, Sharon James.
