Service Details

Larry Constable, 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 12, 2008. He was greatly loved by many and he leaves behind countless memories that will forever be treasured. One special memory is of his strong faith and how often he shared it. He will be missed by all but mostly by his family, especially his devoted, loving wife of 42 years, Evelyn Constable. They shared a beautiful life that included their two children, Max “Bit” Constable (Sarah) of Des Moines and Tina “Sis” Bedford (Pat, #1 son-in law) of Altoona. Along with their children he was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Larry “Boogie”, Hanna “Hammer Banamer”, Katie “Poohsie Woosie”, Allen “Alooney”, Emma, Steven, Stacy, Deven, Kyle, Zoey and Gini. Larry, known as “Papa” to many, enjoyed his family very much and giving his family special nicknames.
He will also be missed by his three sisters, Kay Bergis (Saul), Jo Heldenbrand (Gene), and Nan Melohn (John); his mother-in-law; many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Larry met again in heaven with his mom, dad and father-in-law.
During his retirement of 6 years from Des Moines Water Works, he spent most of his time with his family traveling and fishing…or “drowning a worm” as he liked to say.
A memorial visitation will be held in his honor from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Altoona Assembly of God, located at 107 6th Street SW. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Larry. Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
