Ruth Delk

Ruth Delk, 90, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Parkridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Ruth was born on December 23, 1917
Ruth was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake. Her specialty was peanut brittle that she made during the holiday season. She also quilted, making quilts for her children and grandchildren. Ruth was a member of Epworth Methodist Church.
Ruth is survived by one son, Charles “Chuck” Delk and his wife Jackie of West Des Moines; daughter, Janice Mertz of Des Moines; sister, Hazel Wood of Leon, Iowa; four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, C. Warren Delk, her parents, several sisters and a brother.
The body has been cremated and memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will visit with friends a half hour prior to the service. Burial of cremated remains will follow the service at Masonic Cemetery, 1550 48th St., Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 412 Euclid Ave., Des Moines.
