Evelyn E. Poole

Evelyn E. Poole, 85, passed away on May 17, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. She was born January 31, 1932 to Eustace and Kathryn (Ehret) Hopwood.

Evelyn worked as a nurse for over 30 years at the VA Hospital in Knoxville until her retirement. Following her time at the VA, she worked at Curves in Des Moines. She enjoyed travelling, reading, being with her family, attending the state fair and auto racing. Evelyn had a giving heart and would lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone she encountered whether 2 legged or 4.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Doris) Perry, Denise (Dennis) Pinckney and Kim Perry; grandson, Derek Beadle; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Autumn White.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; and granddaughter, Karie White.

Funeral services will occur at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Altoona United Methodist Church, 602 5th Ave SW, Altoona with visitation immediately before the service from 11:00 – 1:00 pm at the church. Private family interment will occur at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Memorials may be directed to the family to go towards a cause close to Evelyn’s heart.
