Alice Van Hosen

Alice Marie Van Hosen (nee Prickett) was born in Pleasantville, Iowa, on January 20, 1925, and died peacefully on May 11, 2017.
Alice graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1942. Following graduation she moved to Des Moines and worked in the Administration Building at the Des Moines Ordnance Plant in Ankeny.
On June 27, 1945, she married Bob Van Hosen and had two children, Pamela and Randy. Alice was employed for 20 years at Lindsey Bros. Farm Equipment Company and later at Iowa Supply Company. She always loved dancing, reading, and crossword puzzles, as well as her family and many friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Van Hosen, and son, Randy Van Hosen.
She was mother of Pam (Dennis) Larson; grandmother of Shelly (Robert) Lapidow, Michael Turner, Amy (Nick) Pagliai, and Brian Larson; and great-grandmother to Jacob, Zoe, Della, and Tilly.
The Celebration of her life will be held June 17th at noon, at the Ramada Inn on Delaware Avenue in Ankeny, IA. Lunch will be served.
Alice chose to donate her body to Des Moines University for research. There will be a burial later at Laurel Hill.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you today. Your mom was kind and loving and I truly enjoyed our conversations on the phone. We wish you and your family a pleasant day celebrating her life. Again, sorry we could not be with you.

To Pam: I am sorry about your mother. Our parents were definitely the greatest generation. You are fortunate to have had her for so long.

I worked with Alice at Iowa Supply. I'm sorry to hear of her passing, and sorry I lost touch. She was kind and caring. She was a good friend.
