Rosie S. (Mireles) Gomez
May 07, 2017
Rosie S. (Mireles) Gomez, age 79, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at her home in Des Moines.
Rosie was born June 27, 1937, to Joseph Mireles and Henrietta Gutierez. She married her husband, Santiago Gomez, September 16, 1961.
Rosie was a very loving and giving person. She allowed any young child that walked through her door, to call her grandma; even when her biological grandchildren protested against it. She was quick to ensure that everyone was taken care of, and never let you leave without having something to eat or drink....even if you had just eaten.
Her favorite thing to do, was spend time with her family. Her love for them was undeniable and she never hid how proud she was of her sons, grandchildren and great grand-children. She will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Santiago, her sons, Jesse (Maria) Gomez, Michael (Romelia) Gomez, Thomas Gomez, and her nephew that she raised as her own son, Mike Mireles; her 10 grandchildren, Jesse (Samantha) Gomez, Audra (Adam) Gomez, Jared Gomez, Stephanie (Joe) Smith, Mickey (Kailey) Gomez, Brandon (Amanda) Gomez, Christian Gomez, Ciara Gomez, Ines Gomez and Antonio Gomez; her 15 great-grandchildren, Jonah, Alex, Alexcis, Gage, Damien, Jayden, Sylar, Royce, Cassius, Mickey, Raymundo, Brayden, Avarie, Jocelyn and Lily, and many more loved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings, and her daughter, Michelle Rose.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2017, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, also at Hamilton’s Southtown, and will conclude with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Rosie.

Finally found Rosie to learn of her death! My father, Tony A. Jimenez and Rosie were first cousins. My grandmother was Aurora (Sifuentes) Jimenez, my grandfather was Proculo Jimenez. I remember visiting the Mireles family in Des Moines when I was a child and Rosie was always so kind and sweet to everyone. Rosie was a favorite of my Dad's first cousins. I wish I could have known her and learned more of her mother and dad and other family members - blood relatives! May God bless her soul. Sincere Condolences.
