Rosalie Caponigro

Rosalie Bambina Caponigro was born July 6, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ignazio and Josephine (Collo) Leto. She was raised and educated in Des Moines, Iowa. On September 28, 1947, Rosalie was united in marriage with Vincent Caponigro. The couple made their home in Des Moines, Iowa. Vincent preceded her in death on January 26, 1992. Rosalie was dedicated to her family and her faith. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Rosalie passed away on December 22, 2007, at the age of 81 years. In addition to her husband Vincent, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Frances Muller, and her grandson Shawn Caponigro. Survivors include four children, Anthony and wife Jeanine Caponigro of Ankeny, Iowa, Mary and husband Dennis Treanor of Polk City, Iowa, Frannie Channon of Des Moines, Iowa and Diana and husband Roger Nagel of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers, Joseph, Father Nelo, and John Leto all of Des Moines, Iowa, and Sam Leto of Huntsville, Alabama; one sister, Sister Mary Anne Leto of Johnston, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home where a vigil service will be held at 7pm Wednesday.
