Larry Murphy

Larry Glenn Murphy, 69, of Des Moines died on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 4-7 P.M. Sunday evening at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 P.M. prayer service. Cremation will follow the services on Sunday and a private family interment will be held on Monday. Larry was a retired supervisor for the City of Des Moines. After retiring in 1995 he moved to Albia where he worked at the Monroe Co. Hospital. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and is survived by his wife Lynda of Norwalk, his sons Gene (Laura) Murphy of Albia and Patrick (Patricia) Murphy of Fountain, Colorado, his daughters Theresa Whitehill of Norwalk, Paula Murphy of Norwalk and Barbara (Jeff) Smart of Des Moines, his brothers Eric Murphy of Des Moines, Robert Murphy of Des Moines and William Murphy of Glenwood, his sister Glenda Murphy of Des Moines, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Elizabeth, their son Larry Glenn Murphy Jr. and his parents Glenn and Elsie Murphy. Memorial contributions may be made to his family in his loving memory.
