Bob Trotter, 91, passed away peacefully on December 9th. He was preceded in death on September 30, 2007 by Ruth, his beloved wife of 67 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and granddaughter Joan Wagener. He is survived by the family he loved and treasured – his daughters Linda (Jeff) Lund and Suzi (Glenn) Erickson, grandchildren Kathy (Rod) Novak, Jim (Carrie) Ferris, Tom (Cheryl) Ferris, Kristi (Lonnee) Vandenheuvel, Robb Oler, and Becky (Bill) Louk, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Born in Bennett, Iowa, his family moved to the Highland Park area of Des Moines while he was still a child. After graduation from North High School, he went to business college, and then began working at United Federal Savings and Loan Association in Des Moines. In 1938 he began his career as an examiner with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. In 1958 he became Chief Examiner for the five-state area, retiring after over 40 years of service in 1978. During his 29 years of retirement, he and Ruthie enjoyed traveling, their cabin in Minnesota, his volunteering for the blood bank, Grand View Lutheran Church, playing and singing in Clancy’s Banjo Revival Band, his Masonic and Shrine activities, golfing, bowling and a busy social calendar.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home at 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Services will be at Grand View Lutheran Church, East 13th and Hull in Des Moines at 11:00 AM, December 14th with interment at Highland Memory Gardens. Memorials are preferred to Grand View Lutheran Church.
