Robert Woods

Robert E. “Woody” Woods, 90, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007, at his home in Des Moines. He was born August 20, 1917 to Ralph and Mabel Woods in Ankeny, Iowa.
Woody enjoyed watching the Hawkeye’s, baseball, sports on t.v., and having Sunday dinners with his family. He served in the United States Army during WWII until, his honorable discharge in December 1945. He received two Bronze Stars.
Robert is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jeanette Woods, his children: Robert W. (Chris) Woods, Jeorjette (Derek) Twogood and Diana (Steve) Kouri, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his step-brother, Robert (Sherry) Prather and his step-mother, Ruth Woods. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Woods, mother, Mabel Burnett and his daughter, Martha Ann Marquis.
He will be deeply missed by all that know him.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Health Home Hospice or to the family in loving memory of Woody.
