Harold K. Belken, 78 died peacefully December 7, 2007 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. He was born November 10, 1929 to George and Orva Belken in Emmetesburg, IA.
Harold was a retired installation technician from Northwestern Bell Telephone where he
had been past President of the C.W.A.. Harold always felt it was his civic duty to give back to the community and was proud to serve on many boards and committees, including the Des Moines City Council and Board of Adjusments, IAACT and Board of Directors for DMACC. He was a past Chairman of the Democratic Party Southside district. Harold also retired as a Captain from the Iowa Air Guard. He was a life member of Home Masonic Lodge, St. Johns Lutheran Church, and a life member of American Legion Post 659.
Harold will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who never had an unkind word. He
was always a friend, a devoted son, husband , father and grandfather. His legacy will carry on in the lives he touched. He was well loved and will be remembered for all his kindness.
He is survived by his loving wife, L.Nadine; His children; Jeannine (Mike) McDaniel,
Judith Belken, George (Jan) Belken and Michael Belken. Five grandchildren; Marissa, Mallory, Kimberly, Kirstin and Katherine. He also leaves a brother Robert Belken.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 6th and Keo.with visitation Monday from 4:00-8:00pm at the church.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Doris.
