Laura Reese
May 03, 2017
Laura Reese, 50, of Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her home. Laura Lynn was born on November 28, 1966 in Des Moines to Carol (Gile) and Terry Reese..
Laura worked for BH Management in Des Moines and for Pier 1 in Ankeny. She was a huge sports fan – she played softball when she was younger. Her favorite was of course the Iowa Hawkeyes and went to see them play many times over the years. Her favorite things were reading a good book, watching movies, singing to 80’s music, shopping, shoes, QVC and EBay. Laura loved children and her furry companions, CoCo, Lola and Manny. She especially loved time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Terry and Carol; her brother, Rick and his wife, Christine and their children, Nolan and Ava; her grandmother, June Reese; her god-children, Karlie Flam, Patrick Maxwell and Nolan Reese; many aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Reese, Charles and Lorene Gile and her aunt, Elaine Everson.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Family will greet guests two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Animal Rescue League (ARL) in loving memory of Laura.

I worked with Laura at Pier 1. No matter what mood any of us were in she could cheer you up! She was always smiling! Sometimes you could even catch her singing and dancing on the sales floor. She was a joy to work with and she will be missed very much from her Pier 1 family and her customers. Thoughts and prayers.

I will forever be grateful for having you as my cousin. Though miles apart, we were together at family occasions and enjoyed time together as if we lived right next door. Fly with angels, Laura. I will carry you always in my heart. My prayers are with you Uncle Terry, Aunt Carol, and Rick and your family.

I was blessed to have worked very closely with Laura at CDS Global. She was a great colleague, team member and friend. My heartfelt sympathy to all of her family and friends. It will come as no surprise that she spoke often and lovingly about her family. God Bless and Go Hawks for Laura!

Thoughts and prayers to Laura's family. I worked with her at Farmland Insurance from 1991 to 1994. She was a wonderful, kind, and funny person to be around. She had a radiant smile that would light up the room. She will be greatly missed.
