Laura Reese
May 03, 2017
Laura Reese, 50, of Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her home. Laura Lynn was born on November 28, 1966 in Des Moines to Carol (Gile) and Terry Reese..
Laura worked for BH Management in Des Moines and for Pier 1 in Ankeny. She was a huge sports fan – she played softball when she was younger. Her favorite was of course the Iowa Hawkeyes and went to see them play many times over the years. Her favorite things were reading a good book, watching movies, singing to 80’s music, shopping, shoes, QVC and EBay. Laura loved children and her furry companions, CoCo, Lola and Manny. She especially loved time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Terry and Carol; her brother, Rick and his wife, Christine and their children, Nolan and Ava; her grandmother, June Reese; her god-children, Karlie Flam, Patrick Maxwell and Nolan Reese; many aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Reese, Charles and Lorene Gile and her aunt, Elaine Everson.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Family will greet guests two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Animal Rescue League (ARL) in loving memory of Laura.

So very sorry to hear of Laura's passing. I remember working summers with her at Farmers Mutual Hail. She was always so upbeat and her smile was infectious. We lost touch in the mid '80's - but I've never forgot the gals I worked with every summer. I loved that she sang everyday - it made the day better. Many thoughts & prayers.

I am so sorry to all of Laura's friends and family. I worked with her for several years at Pier 1, and she was always busy running around doing something! She was a bright light that will be greatly missed and most definitely gone too soon. I enjoyed her wit and her "tell you like it is attitude!" Love and prayers.

I was lucky enough to call Laura a friend during the time we were both working at CDS Global. You always knew when Laura walked in the door each day as she would often stop by my office and show me her new shoes! She was a ray of sunshine in our department and I'm a better person for having known her. My heart goes out to your family at this difficult time and I pray that you will find peace in your happy memories of Laura. Thank you for sharing her with us and in honor of her memory, Go Hawks!

My heart breaks. She was such a vibrant, caring, loving person. I don't think that I ever saw her without a smile on her face, no matter what. Gone all too soon. But she's traded her fancy shoes for a pair of wings. Fly high with your Angel Wings, sweet Laura.

Laura was a ray of sunshine. She was knowledgeable and loved sharing her expertise with others. My heart aches for her family as they push through this tragic and sudden loss. I only knew Laura through work at her most recent employer, but still felt like I got a glimpse of her helpful and loving spirit. She will be greatly missed from her BH work family, and we cannot even imagine the heartache her family is experiencing in the wake of this terrible tragedy. We are sending prayers and well wishes your way for joyful memories of Laura paying for peace, strength, and hope during this time.
