Larry Lee Jones

Larry Lee Jones, 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was born August 27, 1935 to Clifford and Louise Jones in Des Moines.

A memorial service will be held Friday May 12, 2017 11:00 a.m. at Celebration Center, 6204 SW 9th St, Des Moines.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. He worked for the family business, Jones Grocery Store. Larry was also owner/operator of Lars’ Sinclair where he served the local clientele with gasoline, auto repairs, and most anything they needed. Larry was also known for building Chrysler Hemi engines, hot rodding, racing sportsman and late model stock cars.

Larry is survived by his son, Randy (Teresa) Jones; son-in-law, Michael Waddell; grandchildren, Randy Jones II, Clifford Jones, Paul Waddell, David Waddell, Stephanie Waddell, and Ashley Thompson; great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Carter, Zoe, Mikayla, DeAnte, Gaven, and Bridgit; brother, Fred (Glenda) Jones; and many nieces, nephews, other family, and numerous friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rhonda Waddell; and brother, Peter Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Larry.
