Dennis Darwin Brown, 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Mercy Hospital ICU. Services will be held at The Well Covenant Church, 2625 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 and will conclude with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Dennis was born September 19, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Wade and Cecelia (Schultz) Brown. He graduated from Tech High School in January of 1962 and began his career in computer operations which he continued until his retirement as a programmer. Dennis married Corrine Burke on May 2, 1964. He was an active and involved member of The Well Covenant Church and was head of Midwest Mutual Insurance Retirement Group. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, playing tennis, and loved time spent with his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Corrine; sons, Darwin Allen (Lori) Brown and Steve Thornton Brown; grandchildren, Suzane Brown, Nicholas Murphy and Dustin Axland; great-grandson, Xander Calderon and one on the way; and his sister-in-law, Marlys Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Cecelia Brown and siblings, Larry Wade Brown and Jerry Brown.
Memorials may be directed to The Well Covenant Church in loving memory of Dennis.
