Larry Decker

Larry Decker, 76, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2017. He was born in 1941 in Cherokee, IA to Gerald and Esther Decker. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School, Iowa Central Community College and Iowa State University.
Larry married Cheryl Anderson of Gowrie, IA in 1961. The couple resided in Fort Dodge where he worked as an accountant for Felco/Land O’ Lakes and later transferred to the cheese division in Spencer, WI. Agri Industries brought him to Urbandale in 1981 and he retired from Wells Fargo. Larry loved spending time with family, traveling, eating out, trains, and his dog, Zoe.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children, Holly Kiddoo (Wayne) of Door County, WI, Steve Decker of Ames, IA, Lori (Troy) Roovers of Chanhassen, MN, Jason (Tina) Decker of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Rheannon, Austin (Amanda), Karrissa, Chloe, Olivia, Maddie, and Drew; a soon to be great-grandson; and his brother, James Decker of Omaha, NE. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda; a grandson and a great-grandson.
Services will be held Friday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 3510 72nd St. in Urbandale, IA with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery in Gowrie, IA at 3:00 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale or to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Condolences may be expressed online at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Cheryl....We were so Very Sorry to read of the loss of Larry....He was a very nice,social fella to travel with,but know in last few years not able to travel anymore....You and your family are in our thougts and prayers at this very difficult time.
