To Sharon and Family,
I too have only the fondest memories of Dan. I wasnt one of the athletes or one of the best students but I knew Dan through your son, Duane. Duane and I used to get into a lot of trouble together and on one occasion we even lit your driveway on fire with Dans gunpowder. Im sure that was Duanes idea:) When Dan got home he really let us know his thoughts. I knew he could be firm but that day I realized he was just being a great Dad to his son and in doing so, went along way in showing the neighbor kid the difference between right and wrong.
Please accept my deepest condolence at this time and always.
Very Respectfully,
Dale Olson

Dear Sharon and family,
We are thinking of you during this sad time. Jan Brosnahan called us about Dan's death. I read a marvelous tribute to Dan on the Iowa Prep website. He has lots of fans everywhere.
Take care.
Fondly,

To Dan Hill's Family,
From Corning to Adel and on to Harlan, I have known Dan Hill. When you rub shoulders with the great John Harris, coach the great Adel teams, officiate at the top levels, and coach/mantor Harlan wrestling for so many years, you know great joys and leave a great legacy. I have fond memories of watching those great Adel wrestlers compete. Then the Jerome Hruska(Creston)/Dan Hill clashes of the 70's. Brands and Sanderson don't have any anthing on those two in terms of competitiveness and intensity, just a bigger platform. Then I got to compete against Dan as Head Coach for Creston starting in 1980-1. I remember traveling to Harlan looking at our match ups feeling pretty good, just to take a long bus ride home after a good spanking at the hands on Dan and the Harlan Cyclones. Dan Hill was a great guy, coach, motivator, promotor, mentor, and person. He did so much for Southwest Iowa wrestling!
Our prayers and thoughts are with you in this tough time, but take time to celebrate the life of a truely remarkable and outstanding gentleman.
Sincerely,
Dan Stephens and the Creston Wrestling Community

I was a student of Dan's in Harlan in the early 1990's. Dan caught me cheating on a test once with a few others. Needless to say, we never did that again. Dan was very well respected by both teachers and students, he will be missed. Dan's life and his leadership touched many in many communities, something the whole Hill family can be very proud of. My condolences on the passing of a great man.

Sharon, Duane, Dana and family,
I was so sad to hear of Mr. Hill's passing.
Many, many times over the years his name was brought up in our home...
so many found memories. Dan always seemed to know when I was skipping and he told me once..Buschy, you think I don't know...but I know..and then he had that Dan hill look that all students knew well..yet he was a softy also...He had so many stories during class time..one I remember is, he telling of being at a wrestling meet and when he looked up Robert Redford standing their ...not for sure if he really was...but that sure woke the class up!!!!
My daughter Sara was also fortunate to have coach Hill for P.E. class at New Park 16 years ago as a kdg student...As Dan would have the kids run, Sara would make it about half way and get ''heartburn'' so Dan would let her sit out, when I saw him, he said to me with his smile, I knew Sara was your daughter!!!! and then he chuckled with that special smile only coach Hill had and many can remember.
Dan was well thought of and once again, our heartfelt sympathy for the entire Hill family.
Sincerely,
Steve and Tami Buschkamp Petersen,
