Harold "Doc" Gamble

H. D. “Doc” Gamble, 87, passed away April 15, 2017 at Kavanagh on 56th Street.
Doc was born September 29, 1929 in Winterset, Iowa to Russell and Vera (Mapes) Gamble. He grew up in Carlisle and graduated from Carlisle High School. Doc served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He started his career as a glazier at Standard Glass and Paint and later worked at Forman Ford Glass & Glazing Company for many years. Doc was a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church and Local Union 1075. He enjoyed dance roller skating, dancing, bicycling, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Doc is survived by his daughters, Terri (Greg) Hendricks and Linda Treanor; grandchildren, Brad Hendricks, Nicole (Boone) Sieren; Stephen (Misty Carder) Treanor and Brian (Kortney Goldsberry) Treanor; great-grandchildren, Abbygail, Piper, Emily, Lilly, Audreana, Jaxon, Landon, Hayden and Alivia; siblings, Beverly (Bob) Claman and Jerry (Joyce) Gamble; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann; and his sister, Shirley Steel.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20th at the funeral home. Doc will be laid to rest with military honors at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

To Linda, Terri and families.
What a great grandpa Doc was. Audrey loved him so much and that makes this Nana's heart so happy. He treated her like a princess that is for sure. He was a great man and somone so special will never be forgotten.
We pray that your hearts find peace and comfort during this difficult time. Know that we are all here for you!
