Sarah Turner

Sarah Jane Bernice Turner, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 15, 2017, at University Park in Des Moins, Iowa. There will be a Memorial Homegoing Gathering from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Sarah was born October 30, 1929, the daughter of John and Geneva Mitchell, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was educated in the Minnesota school system. She later moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa where she worked and in 1952, she relocated to Des Moines, Iowa.

Sarah worked and retired from Broadlawns Hospital as a Nurses’ Aid and enjoyed her retirement. Sarah loved her family time, bowling and bingo, movies, and traveling.

Sarah is survived by her sons, Larry F. Lockman, Sr. and Tyrone D. Lockman and their families, six grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother and two sisters and their families. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and five sisters.
