Kenneth Freerksen, 80, passed away April 14, 2017, in Des Moines. He was born October 17, 1936, to Arthur and Minnie Freerksen in Eldora, Iowa.
Kenneth enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, gardening, or working in his yard. He also enjoyed walking at Merle Hay Mall, visiting with his friends at McDonald’s, and playing pool. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Sue; son, Howard Freerksen; daughter, Laura (Jay) Stalzer; grandsons, Landon and Drew Stalzer; brothers, Harlan (Trudy) Freerksen and Steve Freerksen; as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James, Stanley, and Dennis.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Capitol Hill Christian Church, 3322 E. 25th Street, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Kenneth.

Kenny was a great man, I will never forget the day I met him. That smile of his always made you wonder what he was up too. Every time I saw him he always had a joke for me. You will be miss. I pray for you all that GOD will heal and watch over you always. Don't forget you will see him some day again.
