Ricky Thomas, 61, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at his home in Des Moines. There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017, at Hamilton’s Southtown, 5400 SW 9th St, Des Moines.
Ricky was born February 22, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Norma and Kenneth Thomas. He graduated from Lincoln High School and was a lifelong Southside resident. Ricky enjoyed spending time fishing. He is survived by his mother, Norma; his sister, Roxanne (Mike) Johnson; and his nephews, David (Paige) Johnson and their daughter, Amelia, and Daniel Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.

My condolences to Rick's family. Rick was a friend and neighbor (I lived on Hughes) since Jr. High.
I'll always remember Rick was one of the first guys I knew who had a car, and riding around with him in that sweet 1964 Chevy Impala brings back a lot of memories.
I work at the airport, and I would run into Rick occasionally while he was working on the UPS ramp, and we would talk and catch up.
Sorry again for your loss. I'm going to miss him.
