Dennis Forbush
April 11, 2017
Dennis Edward Forbush was born August 11, 1953 to Phraitho (Buddy) and Dorothy Forbush. Dennis was educated in the Des Moines Public Schools. He graduated from Tech High School, where he was on the high school wrestling team. Dennis grew up in the Chesterfield neighborhood and was proud of it.
After graduation Dennis moved to, Los Angeles, CA, in the Baldwin Hills area to be with his sister, Charlene, before returning back to Des Moines. In 1985, Dennis stopped to help someone whose car was broken down on the side of the road. It was Lana, and from there it was history. They had their son Taurean in 1990 and were married on June 19, 2015.
Dennis was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, Beckley Imports, Tom Daniel’s Auto Mechanics and John Deere and Company before his love for driving took over. Dennis was an owner/operator and over-the-road truck driver for over 30 years, first for Crawford Trucking, then he drove for C.H. Robinson before his retirement in February 2015.
Dennis had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed buying lottery tickets, going fishing, sail boating, cars and trucks of all kinds, and riding his motorcycle. He most recently had four motorcycles and bought his oldest grandson TJ his first dirt bike last summer. Dennis felt the oldest grandkids had to have bicycles at Grandma’s and Papa’s house. Papa, as affectionately known by his grandkids, loved to work around the house doing yard work and swimming pool maintenance. He was talented when it came to car maintenance, and he could repair or fix anything electrical or plumbing. He was a good cook and known for his special meatloaf and chili recipes. And oh, could he bake! He made the best homemade apple pie. Most of all, Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle, nephew, and best friend.
Those who knew and loved him will dearly miss his great sense of humor and his spirit will live in our hearts forever.
Dennis began his journey home on April 11, 2017, at home surrounding his loving family, at the age of sixty-three.
Preceding him in death in death were his loving parents; his four brothers, Gerald Lee, Raymond Otis, William Earl, and Cleve Arnold Forbush; and his sister, Charlene Forbush
Dennis’s loss is mourned by his wife, Lana; sons, Taurean and Marlon; daughter, Adrienne; uncle, Edward Daniels, Sr.; father-in-law, Jim Martin; three grandsons: Taurean Jr., Julian, and Kingston; granddaughter, Rayonnia; countless relatives, and many wonderful friends.
Per his wishes, Dennis will be cremated. His ashes will be scattered at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in his honor for such expenses.
Acknowledgement: During this very difficult time, our hearts have been comforted by the many expressions of sympathy and love shown by all whose lives were touched by Dennis. God bless each of you for your kindness.
A special thanks to Dr. Dallas Sanders who was not only his physician but a dear friend.

I was so sorry to learn about the passing of my childhood friend and classmate Dennis Forbush. I enjoyed the days of watching the boys playing sports and all of the older brothers giving Dennis "the business". He certainly was a kind, funny young man who grew in to a fine gentleman.

Lana, sorry to hear about Dennis I have not seen Dennis for a long time. I used to ride my motorcycle over to their house. Dennis and I would go riding every day. I met Dennis when I went over to their house, his brother Billy was my best friend. I stayed for dinner many times and we would sit in the yard and his dad would tell stories. Because of Billy, Dennis was a true friend also.

Even though I have not seen Dennis for over 40 years to read about his journey home was a blow. I met Dennis at Tech High we shared a Auto mechanics class, then later worked together at John Deere. Dennis was a great friend and will truly be missed.

So very sorry to see of Dennis's passing, he and his whole family were not only good Chesterfield friends but our families were very close as well. Billy and I were the same age so I was at their housie a lot, in fact I started out crawling on the floors of the Forbush house. Dennis was a great guy all his life. Although I haven't seen him in 25 years particularly because of living in Oklahoma but I guess once you're raising a family you just loose track of each other. That's not to say I don't think of the whole family quite often. My deepest condolences go out my friends whole family and our friends.
