Dennis Allison, 77, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the VA Healthcare Center in Des Moines. He was born November 17, 1939, to Harold and Maxine Allison in Des Moines.
Dennis was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. He was a proud graduate of East High School and served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. Dennis retired from Bridgestone/Firestone in 2000.
Dennis was an avid sports fan who liked watching football and NASCAR races. He enjoyed spending time outside on the deck with family and friends, detailing his cars, taking trips to Prairie Meadows with his wife, and vacationing in Arizona and Arkansas.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Antonette “Tootie” Allison; daughters, Angela (Greg) Bartleman of Altoona and Toni Denise Allison-Baker of Des Moines; sons, David (Jerrilyn) Reed of Urbandale and Larry Reed of Des Moines; brother, Harold Eugene “Gene” Allison; grandchildren, Anthony Reed (DSM), Jared Reed (DSM), Danielle Reed (Urbandale), Larry Crane Jr. (DSM), Joshua Bartleman (Altoona), Jacob Bartleman (Altoona), Rachel Bartleman (Altoona), Brandon Reed (Urbandale), Morgan Baker (DSM), Kevin Baker (DSM), and Kyler Baker (DSM); great-grandchildren, Rylee Reed (DSM) and Haylee Reed (DSM). He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; mother and step-father, Maxine (Clayburn) Owens-Wilson.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Dennis.

I cant imagine what you must be feeling right now, but I want you to know that we are just a phone call away. Dennis always said whats up kid. He helped me many times with my car. I will miss him forever. My heartfelt condolences. I Love always. Eva
