Services for Mark, Charla and Tawni Nicholson will be held at Grace Church, 4200 E 25th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017, to be concluded with a private family burial.
Tawni Alexis Nicholson was born on September 1, 1992, in Des Moines, Iowa to Mark and Charla (Liston) Nicholson. She graduated from Bondurant High School and recently from Iowa State University. She worked for American Equity as a Service Technician. Tawni was open about her faith in the Lord which gave a light to her spirit. She illuminated every room she entered with her contagious smile. Tawni was the true definition of the word ‘sweet.’ She was a kind and beautiful person who had retained her childlike innocence, even into adulthood. She was a devoted daughter and she loved dogs, especially her dog, Jasmine. She was a very hard worker and a truly positive person.
Those left to cherish her memory include her grandmothers Dixie Nicholson and Jeri (Lou) Nunez, her aunts and uncles Jerry Nicholson, Steve (Doreen) Nicholson, Chris Nicholson, Liz (Tom) Mathews, Cynthia (Curt) Thye and Sue (Todd) Todavich, her boyfriend Joe Follet, as well as numerous other extended family and loving friends.
Preceding her in death are her grandfathers Jerry Nicholson Sr. and LeRoy Liston.

I did not have the opportunity to meet Tawni here at American Equity yet, but it sounds like we share a common faith, so I will get to meet her someday in heaven. My sincere condolences to the whole family, my prayers are with you all. Sincerely, Terri

I was Tawni's kindergarten teacher at Southeast Elementary and Chase's teacher too. We lived in the same neighborhood when they lived in Ankeny. I will always remember Tawni's quick smile along with her sweet and quiet nature. She always wanted to please others and made certain all friends were included in the classroom. She took her role as big sister to Chase seriously and was always mindful of him. I can still picture her gently putting her arm around his shoulder, walking out of the classroom with him. She was very proud of her family. May you rest in peace Tawni. I am praying for all of you.
