Patricia Smith

Patricia Ann (Bloomfield) Smith, 81 took her journey home to be with her beloved husband on April 4, 2017. She was born August 6th, 1935 in Defiance, IA.

Pat was always there for everybody, she didn’t care if you needed food, shelter, someone to talk to or if you just wanted to play dominos. She would open her arms, house and heart to welcome you in. Pat loved watching her great grandsons play in the pool in her back yard, sports and singing in their school concerts. She had a way with kids, spending years watching and caring for her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters and son-in-law, Linda Smith, Betty (Frank) Davis both of Des Moines, granddaughter Dorene (Rodney) Gallant, great-grandsons, Nicholas and Jacob Gallant of Altoona; brother, Paul Bloomfield of Maxwell, IA and sister, Margaret Gene (Richard) Beal Sr. of Collins; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Emmett Smith; her parents Thomas and Blanch Bloomfield; brother, Jim Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A time of visitation will start one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will be at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center at a later date.
