Molly Jean Mehalovich

Molly Mehalovich, 83, passed away on April 1, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. She was born in Guthrie County, on July 3, 1933, to Clifford and Fern (Scott) Nickel.
Molly graduated from Guthrie Center High School and married Tony on May 9, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked as a secretary at Faith Baptist Bible College as well as other places throughout her life. Molly was a member at Altoona Regular Baptist Church, enjoyed crocheting, playing Scrabble, reading, collecting bells, doing crossword puzzles and working on her family tree. Molly also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Molly is survived by her husband, Tony; children, Susan (Dan) Speed, Joyce (Phil) Tilson; grandchildren, Paul (Alyssa) Speed, David (Pamela) Speed, Jonathan Tilson, Nathan Tilson, Alyssa Tilson; siblings, Evelyn Mathews, Wayne Nickel, Dan Nickel, Bill (Margene) Nickel; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Keith Mathews; sister-in-law, Cheryl Nickel.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, at Altoona Regular Baptist Church, 803 3rd Ave SW, with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m., also at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Molly.

I remember Molly from when she taught Sunday School at Norwoodville Baptist Church. She was a caring Christian woman. She will be missed by many.

I have so many fond memories of Molly from our days at Norwoodville Baptist. What a treasure she was. She was a fantastic role model for all of us kids. What a joy to have known her!
