Phyllis E. Hodges, 81, of 1850 Four Seasons Drive, Ankeny, died at home surrounded by her children and family. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2017, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW with burial at East Linn Cemetery at Linn Township Redfield, Iowa.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Union County to Ralph and Lenore Austin. She married the love of her life Leland Hodges April 3, 1953, and they were married for 43 years before his passing. They made their home in Des Moines where they lived most of their life prior to moving to Ankeny. She retired from K-Mart in 1996 after working for 16 years.
Phyllis was a loving wife and mother who devoted her time to her family and friends. She never met a stranger and always treated you like part of her family. Phyllis loved playing card games with her family and was known to show her competitive side.
Among her survivors are her four children, Michael (Lisa) Hodges of Des Moines, Deanna (David) Stefani of Pleasant Hill, Clark Hodges of Des Moines, and Aaron Hodges of Ankeny; one sister, Marcia Parsons of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Michelle, Justin, Cassandra, Brady, and Brandon; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Evan, Gia, Ruby, and Zoe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland (Aug. 23, 1996) and her parents.
Friends and family may call Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017.
