John J. Duquette, 85, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.
John was born June 28, 1931, to Joseph and Sophie Duquette in Des Moines, Iowa. He served four years in the Army during the Korean War. After he was discharged, he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad for nine years. He then became a Des Moines Police Officer and retired at the age of 55. John also had a pilot’s license, and he loved airplanes and his dogs. He is survived by one sister, Frances Onder, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and five sisters.
As per his wishes, he has been cremated and no funeral services are requested. He will be laid to rest privately at Glendale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the ARL in John’s name.

Met John when he was working in the Juvenile Bureau. John was a very bright person whose advice was always sound and who was always willing to help a new person. Respected him very much.
