Utonna "Toni" Robbins
March 09, 2017
Utonna E. “Toni” Robbins, age 76, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Toni was born April 15, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Edray and Mildred (Lehman) Baker. If it were possible to sum up a person’s life with a few words, those words for Toni would be “her love for Jesus and family.” She gave of herself without hesitation and was the rock of her family. She loved taking care of others and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed going to breakfast with her husband and for the past 20 years, she hosted Thursday “gathering night” dinner for the entire family. Her faith in God was her guiding light and her biggest desire was to see her family saved. She was a pillar of her church, enjoyed reading her Bible and other books, and doing word puzzles.
Toni is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry “Gene”; children, Kevin (Janet) Robbins, Lisa (Rick Hill) Beaver, and John (Liz) Robbins; eight grandchildren, Emily (Jonathan) Tallman, Ashley Robbins, Jared Robbins, Logan Beaver, Rachel Robbins, Joe Robbins, Nick Robbins, and Delaney Robbins; her brothers, Topper (Cynthia) Baker and Dr. Shan (Catherine) Baker; her beloved dog, Cocoa; and many other loving extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edray and Mildred Baker.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 314 SE Army Post Rd., Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, also at the church, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Toni.
