Bert and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. My prayers to you all as you grieve and remember Jim's many blessings. Tough guy, devoted family man with a great sense of humor...that's how I remember him. In heaven there are many rooms and one has Jim's name on it...hopefully it has a command chair similar to the one he had on Watrous Avenue. He was always welcoming whether it was the 3rd time he'd seen me that day growing up or after years of not seeing each other. God Bless.

My father, Bob (Whispering Bob) Hadsall, God Bless his soul, always said if the only thing he was remembered for was being a good neighbor, he'd be a happy camper; Jim and Bert and their son Jack were the very best of neighbors to my family. All three bought property south of my parents, Jack subsequently building one of the nicest log homes I've ever seen on one side of the road, Jack and Bert building a pond and campsite on the other side of the road. I don't think Bert and Jim ever came out from Des Moines without stopping by our home for coffee, friendship and comradery of their joy in the solice of ruralness, both men having served proudly in the military. The early loss of Jack was devastating for all but we all relished in the joy of having him in our lives; the same is true for Jim. In a time when most were fleeing the countryside for a more urban lifestyle, these three savored the beauty of the uncomplicated simplicity of country life. Whether or not I'll be able to attend Jim's service, my thoughts and prayers will be with Bert and their family this week. Although he will be sorely missed, my thoughts of him, as they are of Jack, will always be happy ones of truly good neighbors.
Love, John (JD) and Judy Hadsall

When I think of Jim Rush, I see a healthy and proud man that gets to be slowly wore down by his ailments. And the greatest vision of Jim Rush I will carry all the days of my life is a man who refused to be beaten by his ailment when it came to attending Sunday morning 7:30am Mass and him insisting on walking up the aisle to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. A man of strength, to be sure. You brought tears of joy to me many a Sunday morning. Thank you Jim for inspiring us in our Faith journey. We will visit you often at Glendale.
