Ronald McQuistan

Ron McQuistan, 79, died Friday, December 1, 2006 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway.
Ron was born February 9, 1927 to Esther and Edward McQuistan in Center, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II after which he married Nadine Smith on July 15, 1949. Ron started and owned Sunrise Dairy, an ice cream distributor, for 22 years. He was a member of Ankeny Presbyterian Church, Arcadia Masonic Lodge, Des Moines Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Nadine; his son Greg (Jeanne) McQuistan of Ankeny; his son Mark (Linda) McQuistan of Ankeny; his daughter Jeanne (Jason) Newman of Cedar Park, TX; His grandchildren: Dr. Michelle McQuistan, Scott McQuistan, Ian McQuistan, Zac McQuistan, Alex Newman, Peter Newman, and Emily Newman; and his great grandchildren Celeste and Jackson McQuistan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Bonnie and Aileen.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ankeny Presbyterian Church or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
