Dick was born in the Rising Sun/Des Moines area on December 28, 1925. He passed away on February 27, 2017, at age 91.

His parents were Mason Smith Stuart and Flora Mae Dawson Stuart. Dick attended schools in the Rising Sun and East Des Moines areas. He was a veteran of World War II after graduating from The Great Lakes Naval Academy as a radio operator. Dick was in the gas and oil business until he moved to Arizona, due to his wife’s health. He and his wife raised both of their children in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, where they both graduated from South East Polk High School. He spent the rest of his life in Arizona.

Dick is survived by his wife, Gertrude; daughter, Ellen Page of Whitetail, MT; grandchildren, Stephanie Miller of Billings MT, Shawn Page of Flaxville, MT, and David Stuart of Sun City West, AZ; great grandchildren, Ashley Stuart of Franklin, IN and Kullen Miller of Billings MT.

He was preceded in death by his son, David in a car accident at the age of 27.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 at Rising Sun Cemetery, Des Moines.
