Hope Matthews

Hope Matthews was born May 17, 1997 in Des Moines to Brad and Carol Matthews. She passed away February 17, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at the age of 19.
Hope enjoyed listening to music, dancing, cheerleading, participating in the Special Olympics and visiting family. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Shrek fan. Hope also loved police officers and enjoyed watching the show “Cops”.
Hope is survived by her loving mother, Carol; sister, Erin (David) Chambers; nephew, Beckham; grandparents, Richard and Mary Emery; special friends, the Amodeo family; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Brad and her grandparents, Ronald and Patricia Matthews.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Special Olympics of Iowa in loving memory of Hope.

Carol and family, Please accept our heart felt condolences! We are so thankful that we were able to meet Hope when she visited Shirley in Washington! And of course Aunt Shirley always shared Hope's amazing adventures with us! We thank God for allowing us to be blessed with Hope for these past nineteen years. I'm sorry for your loss, and would like to express my condolences to the family. We cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this difficult time. I got to know Hope last year at RVM. She was a strong willed and wonderful student, always ready to work and help out. I am so sorry for your loss of a great girl.

Im a para at Smouse and had the pleasure of having Hope in my room several years ..I'm so sad and I have no words other than heaven has gained yet another perfect angel !!
